2015 National Competition
On May 8, PMS archery team members traveled to Louisville to participate in the National Archery in the Schools competition. This year over 12,000 archers shot, setting a Guinness World Record for the largest indoor archery tournament.
PMS shot 3,131 and placed 125 out of 201 middle schools. Sydney Phipps was the top PMS shooter with a score of 268 out of 300. This placed her 505 out of 2.190 middle school girls. The top male shooter was Trey Spence with a score of 266 out of 300, placing him 771 out of 2,657 middle school boys overall.
Teams also competed in the 2nd NASP/IBO 3D Challenge which set the Guinness World Record for the largest indoor 3D archery tournament with over 2,800 students in grades 4-12. PMS shot a 1,279 to finish 46 out of 100 middle school teams. Sydney Phipps led the middle school with a score of 274 out of 300, placing 6th for 6th grade girls. Sydney also qualified to compete in the World 3D Challenge in Nashville in July.
Elementary students, Josiah Hodges and Jacob Dillon, also qualified to compete in the World Tournament in July.
